Below the famous col de Croix de Fer and near the Glandon, it is almost constantly in the sunshine and snow. With its huge distance in skiruns, 310 km especially red and blue slopes, beginning and average skiers can go for days without spending time on the same slopes. The north facing runs above Saint Sorlin d Arves boast some of the more challenging pistes and intermediate skiers and families will find the area ideal for building confidence. There is plenty to explore including the wide bowls of La Toussiure and swooping reds of Le Corbier. Les Sybelles ski area also has a few challenging black runs for the more advanced skier. Les Sybelles is a delightful area with a rural atmosphere and although Saint Sorlin d Arves is the main resort it still manages to maintain a traditional village air. For snowboarders there is also plenty to do, starting with the enormous amount of runs. The novice snowboarders also have a very nice fun park and a great boarder cross. For the adventurous there is paragliding, snow shoe walks, dog-sledding and cross country skiing.
